"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -- Mark Twain
I have only been in Madrid for 1 week and 3 days! It feels like so much longer and that is awesome but weird at the same time. This past week has been pretty busy! On Friday, we finished up classes early and then later went out for the first weekend in Spain!! We went to a bunch of bars and met tons of people from all over Europe. We got in around 4:30 and then had to be up bright and early for Segovia at 8am. The excursion was through my school, Nebrija. We visited 2 cathedrals, the castle and of course the aqueduct. My favorite by far was the Roman Aqueduct. It´s crazy how long it has been around! Segovia is a really old city and all the roads are very narrow and that is why it´s cooler there. The buildings and roads are covered in the shade.
We did some shopping also there, what else is new! Saturday night was the best. We went to a discoteca, Kapìtal! Danced all night long!
-----Michelle you would love Kapital, we are going back this weekend!
That was an early morning for the metro... But I was able to sleep all day Sunday and basically just mope around.
This week is the first week of classes at Nebrija and today we had a pizza lunch with our directors from CEA. We were able to talk about our future overnight visits to Cuenca and Granada with them.
Yesterday, it rained for the first time all summer. It rained for only 20 minutes but still, it was weird, alot of people were taking pictures... ok maybe we were the only ones taking pictures. But alot of people were outside watching. We went to an indoor mall on Tuesday, which they stole from the States. :)
This weekend, we are taking another day trip to Salamanca. It´s about 2 hours away from Madrid. There are some more CEA students coming from the States this week, so we are going to be the locals showing them around.... but that´s about all for now.
Gracias para tu carte Mama!
Hasta Luego!

Hey Col,
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you are writing in a blog so I can read all about Spain! It sounds like a great experience, much better than being stuck at Lewis University :) (But it is much better living here than living at home!!) Anyways, are you living at your host home yet? How is that going? Is living in the states alot different than over there? lol. And i read your first blog and you said you have to get used to a 24 hour clock. haha just like at jamba juice. who would have thought that jamba juice would end up benefiting us in the future lol. and for the reading temperature in celcius, i am learning that too for nursing. it is a pain in the ass! anyways, hope you have lots more fun, and keep updating this blog!!
